Treatment and Procedure

Total joint replacement is a surgical procedure in which damaged or arthritic joint surfaces are replaced with artificial components. This procedure relieve pain, restore function, and improve the quality of life for patients with severe joint damage, typically caused by osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or trauma.

Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique used to diagnose and treat joint problems. It involves the use of a small camera called an arthroscope, which is inserted into the joint through a small incision. This allows the surgeon to view the inside of the joint and do the repair. The procedure is usually done on an outpatient basis. Recovery is typically quicker than traditional open surgery. Patients may experience some swelling and discomfort but can usually return to normal activities quickly.

Knee replacement surgery involves replacing a damaged or worn-out knee joint with an artificial joint, or prosthesis. It is commonly performed to relieve pain and improve function in patients with severe arthritis or injury. The damaged cartilage and bone are removed from the knee joint, and the surfaces are replaced with metal and plastic components that recreate the knee’s natural movement. There are two types of knee replacements: total knee replacement (TKR) and partial knee replacement (PKR). Post-surgery, patients will need physical therapy to regain strength and mobility.

Hip replacement surgery replaces a damaged hip joint with an artificial one. It is often necessary for patients with severe hip arthritis or hip injuries. The surgeon removes the damaged sections of the hip joint and replaces them with metal, ceramic, or plastic components. The artificial joint helps reduce pain and improve mobility.

Wrist surgery involves a variety of procedures to treat conditions affecting the wrist, such as fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, and ligament reconstruction. The goal is to relieve pain, restore function, and prevent further damage. It is followed by physical therapy to restore movement and strength. Full recovery can take several months.

Foot and ankle surgery addresses a wide range of conditions, including fractures, tendon injuries, arthritis, and deformities such as bunions and hammertoes. Surgical techniques vary based on the condition but may include minimally invasive procedures or open surgery. The goal is to relieve pain, correct deformities, and restore mobility.

Diabetic foot refers to complications in the feet of diabetic patients, including infections, ulcers, and neuropathy. Proper management is crucial to prevent serious complications, such as amputation. It can be Managed by Regular foot examinations, Wound care, Infection control and Pressure relief using special footwear. In severe cases, surgical intervention may be necessary to remove infected tissue, correct deformities, or improve the blood flow.

ACL surgery repairs or reconstructs a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the knee, a common injury in athletes. The torn ACL is replaced with a graft, typically taken from the patient's own hamstring or patellar tendon. The surgery can be performed arthroscopically, minimizing recovery time and scarring.

Spine surgery treats various spinal conditions, such as herniated discs, spinal stenosis, scoliosis, and degenerative disc disease. Common Procedures include Discectomy, Laminectomy, Spinal fusion, Vertebroplasty. The surgery depends on the specific condition but generally involves relieving pressure on the spinal cord or nerves, stabilizing the spine, or correcting deformities.

Paediatric orthopaedics focuses on diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal problems in children, including congenital deformities, growth-related issues, and traumatic injuries. Common Conditions include Clubfoot, Scoliosis, Hip dysplasia and Fractures. Treatment may involve non-surgical methods, such as casting or bracing, as well as surgical interventions to correct deformities or repair injuries.

Injuries and fractures can affect any part of the musculoskeletal system. Effective treatment is necessary to ensure proper healing and prevent complications.

Fractures (broken bones) Sprains and strains Dislocations Tendon and ligament injuries Treatment may include immobilization with casts or splints, surgical repair, and physical therapy is required.
